from paris, with love

so, after a couple of months travelling around europe, i've finally settled into my apartment in paris. it is, in one word - parfait. i'm living in montmartre for the next five months, working as an au pair for a lovely french family. things are a little busy around here at the moment, but it's so nice not to be living out of a suitcase; to be able to spread out and have my own space. what's that.. a wardrobe?!

i've been here almost a week already - time flies. officially starting work tomorrow, although i've been getting to know the typical daily routine over the past few days. we had au pair papa's birthday today so i met the extended family... & then some. was hilariously french to see the neighbours drop by/call down from the white-shuttered windows to wish au pair papa un joyeux anniversaire - and on the way joining us for a glass of champagne &/or a generous hunk of gâteaux. it was beautiful to spend the afternoon out in the parisian version of a garden, sipping ridiculously delicious champagne, getting my sugar fix in the form of tarte aux fraises (okay okay, i helped myself to the chocolate & almond one too) and getting to know the family better. they're fun frenchies & the kids are gorgeous.

with 30º days & and the sun setting at 9pm, it's perfect weather for wandering around my new home  away from home - montmartre. i've thrown in some snaps of the past week...

life is good, paris is beautiful.
