angoulême

the closest city to brie is angoulême - known for it's bandes dessinées (cartoon art) on the walls of the city. the weather's started to turn cold...so while we were in angoulême it was raining with a freezing wind. definitely winter time here in france..! we stumbled across a gorgeous little tea house, so we took refuge from the cold and warmed ourselves up again with several kinds of tea and even more kinds of coffee. i was so tempted to buy the burnt orange ceramic teapot...then sadly had to remind myself that it's (totally) impractical for backpacking around europe...

we finished up the day in our favourite restaurant le pistou. ironically the food there is as far from french as possible - bordering on italian. their gourmet pizzas are my ultimate weakness...it's given me a real sense of nostalgia to be back here in angoulême, two whole years later. i was originally planning on staying here for another week or so, but the carlotti family had other plans... my next post will speak for itself.

au revoir la france!
